RIGA SCARF

Helga writes about the design:
“I came up with the idea for the Riga Scarf last year when I was invited to Riga. There, in connection with a major Bauhaus exhibition, I was invited to teach and speak about the inspiration I have drawn from the female weavers associated with the Bauhaus school.
The graphic patterns found in their beautiful woven textiles are ideal for double knitting, particularly for a scarf, as this technique creates two right sides.”
The Riga Scarf is knitted using one strand of Isager Merilin and one strand of Soft Fine.
CONSTRUCTION
First an i-cord for a knot is worked with color A and B held together.
Then a section of rib (k1, p1) is worked with increases worked along both sides on every other rows until there are 27 sts on the needle.
After this, the sts are split into two so they can be worked in double knitting. The scarf is finished with another section of rib and an i-cord for a knot.
