CONSTRUCTION NOTES

The hat is knitted in rows, back and forth, using a short circular needle. After working the bottom band, a round of base triangles is worked, one at a time, to
reach a count of 11 stitches each. Then, rounds (or tiers) of squares are worked, one
at a time, each with a count of 12 stitches. In this manner, a slightly larger width of
the hat is achieved. When the tiers of squares are completed, the crown of the hat is worked back and forth and then the crown is seamed at the end. It is highly recommended to make a sample swatch to understand how to knit this entrelac technique.

RECOMMENDED NEEDLE SIZE

3.5 mm (US 4) and 3 mm (US 2) for Bottom Band

A KNITTING LIFE – BACK TO TVERSTED

The book ‘A Knitting Life – Back to Tversted’ is a book about Marianne Isager’s first 20 years as a knitwear designer and as owner of the yarn company, ISAGER. Marianne tells about her inheritance from Åse Lund Jensen and about her efforts to combine family life and knitting life in the small village of Tversted.
The book contains stories and pictures from the 70s and 80s, and 15 new patterns with knitting instructions using the same techniques seen in designs from the two decades.

The book is available in Danish and English. The Danish title is: ET STRIKKELIV – TILBAGE TIL TVERSTED

Patterns in the book: Barbara, Barbara top, Braids, Chess, Easy, Gaudi, Honeymoon, Horseshoe, Jacquard, Newspaper, Scottish Check, Squares, Triangles, Twisted Cables og Wings to fly.
