CONSTRUCTION
The Edda Sweater is worked in stockinette stitch using the jacquard technique following a chart. The sweater is worked top down with a European shoulder seam. First, the top of the back yoke is worked in the flat. Next, stitches are picked up for the front pieces along each shoulder line on the back piece. When the top part of the front pieces are finished and the neck opening is shaped, the sections are joined and worked back and forth until the armhole depth is reached. Then, front piece and back piece are joined to form the body which is worked in the round following the chart. The body is worked until it reaches the desired length. Then, the ribbing is worked, and the stitches are bound off with the Italian bind off technique. Stitches are picked up along the armhole, and the sleeve is worked top down in the round. In the end, stitches are picked up along the neck opening.
In this pattern, one of the threads is dominant throughout the work. This creates a neat and uniform look.

Double pointed needles can be omitted if knitting with the Magic Loop technique.
GAUGE
23 sts x 23 rows on needle 4.5 mm = 10 x 10 cm
The gauge is worked in pattern and measured after wash and block

The distinctive vertical lines of the Edda Sweater originate from Marianne Isager’s Krydser design from the 1980s and are created with great respect for its original, iconic expression.
This sweater embodies classic stitch aesthetics and represents a harmonious fusion of two eras and two designers’ shared passion for the graphic and the timeless.
It is knitted in jacquard technique following a chart, using the yarn qualities Isager Tweed and Isager Highland Wool — two fibers that together create beautiful structure and an elegant stitch definition. The sweater is worked top-down with a European shoulder construction, and the technique of dominance is applied to achieve a refined and consistent look.
ABOUT ISAGER ARCHIVES 2 - COLLECTION
This collection is inspired by Marianne Isagers many designs from the 80s and 90s. 15 of Denmark’s most talented knitwear designers have spent a weekend with us in Tversted, with access to Marianne’s substantial collection of patterns. The designers have used one or more patterns as inspiration for their respective contributions to the Isager Archives 2 collection.
