CONSTRUCTION

The hood is worked from the bottom up. First the back is worked and then the two fronts. After this all three parts are joined and worked together to the top of the head. A flat section is worked along the top of the head, where the center of the work is knitted together with the two sides. At the end a front edge is worked in double knitting along the fronts and around the face opening, and buttonholes are worked along one side.

4.5 mm [US7] circular needle, 60 – 80 cm 24 – 32 inches
3 mm [US2 1/2] circular needle, 60 – 80 cm 24 – 32 inches
6 mm [US10] circular needle (for the cast-on only)

GAUGE

9 sts and 18 rows in garter stitch (measured inside the edge sts) = 5 x 5 cm

ABOUT THE DESIGNER'S INSPIRATION AND DESIGN PROCESS

Helga Jóna Thórunnardóttir writes about the design:

Det var let at blive inspireret af Marianne Isagers smukke designs fra 1980’erne og 1990’erne, men jeg besluttede hurtigt, at jeg ville arbejde med Hjælm — et design, jeg straks kunne se mig selv i.
Pasformen i det originale design var allerede utrolig smuk, så den lod jeg næsten være, som den var. I stedet fordybede jeg mig i detaljerne: kanter, knaphuller, vendestrik og den helt rigtige finish for mig — alt det, jeg elsker at nørde med. På den måde kunne jeg løfte designet og sætte mit eget præg på det, uden at miste det udtryk, jeg faldt for.
Andrea Hood er strikket i Isager Tweed, der har det mest vidunderlige, levende farvespil, og i kombination med to tråde Isager Silk Mohair opstår et væld af smukke farvenuancer og en blød, luksuriøs kvalitet. Der er lagt meget tid og kærlighed i detaljerne, og jeg er oprigtigt glad for resultatet. Til opskriften har jeg desuden lavet flere instruktionsvideoer, som guider dig trygt gennem alle trin.
Jeg har stor respekt for Marianne Isager — både som designer og som menneske — og er dybt taknemmelig for at have fået lov til at bringe hendes smukke design ind i nutiden og lade det møde Andrea Hood.

ABOUT ISAGER ARCHIVES 2 - COLLECTION

This collection is inspired by Marianne Isagers many designs from the 80s and 90s. 15 of Denmark’s most talented knitwear designers have spent a weekend with us in Tversted, with access to Marianne’s substantial collection of patterns. The designers have used one or more patterns as inspiration for their respective contributions to the Isager Archives 2 collection.
