Construction notes
The vest is worked from the bottom up with a V-neck. Neck and armhole edges are finished with rib, which is bound off using the Italian bind-off technique.
Please note that several things happen simultaneously in the pattern, so read carefully before beginning a section.
Recommended needle size
5 mm, 5.5 mm [US9] and 6.5 mm [US10.5]
GUAGE
Rib (k5, p5) on a 5.5 mm [US9] needle:
10 cm [4 inches] = 15 sts
10 cm [4 inches] = 22 rows
Fern pattern on a 6.5 mm [US10½] needle:
10 cm [4 inches] = 14 sts
10 cm [4 inches] = 21 rows
1 repeat of fern pattern = 10 sts/16 rows
