ABOUT THE DESIGN

SAND Summer Cardi is meant to be worn over another piece of clothing, for example over a summer top, a dress or maybe over the bathing suit on the beach.
It became a “Summer Cardi” as it is kind of a cardigan without sleeves, but it can also be worn as a vest or a top, if one prefers.
In my design, I have worked with form and structure. The structure is flat and reminds me of sand, and I found the inspiration for this kind of clothing in old French fashion magazines.
The SAND Summer Cardi is knitted bottom up, and I use short rows to lead the pattern in different directions. On the front this creates a clean line along the edge, whereas a wedge-like shape is formed on the back which gives the design a significant expression.
I love using different knitting techniques in my designs to achieve a beautiful finish, and this model is no exception. In the SAND Summer Cardi, I have among other used Japanese short rows in the middle of the slip stitch pattern, fine edges and a beautiful buttonhole, which allow the piece to be worn without buttoning it.
The Sand Summer Cardi is knitted in one strand of Trio 2 and one strand of Trio 1 held together.
NEEDLES
4 mm [US6] and 5 mm [US8] circular needles, 80 cm [32 inches]
Extra: 4 mm [US6] circular needle, 40 cm [16 inches] for the edge
GUAGE
23 sts and 30 rows in pattern on a 5 mm [US8] needles with one strand of each yarn held together = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches]
