CONSTRUCTION
Alma Sweater is worked from the bottom and up in a two-colored pattern. First the body is worked in the round up to the armhole, then the front and back pieces are divided and worked separately.
The front is divided into a left and right front piece, while the button band is worked. Each shoulder are shaped with short rows and at the end worked together with a visible bind-off on the right side.
The sleeves are worked separately in the round and sewn onto the sweater at the end.
Finally the neck edge and collar are worked from stitches that are picked up and knitted along the neckline.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER'S INSPIRATION AND DESIGN PROCESS
Tine Rousing (Knitthing_) writes about the design:
“Alma Sweater is part of Isager’s Archives 2 collection and is inspired by Marianne Isager’s design Zimbabwe. It is with great respect for the original work that I created my own interpretation.
In this design, I have aimed to preserve as much of the original aesthetic as possible, while making a few constructional and material adjustments that give the sweater a more contemporary expression.
The sweater is knitted from the bottom up in jacquard with set-in sleeves. I have worked with different yarn qualities and slightly larger needles than in the original to achieve a lighter, softer structure and a gentle drape.
In addition, I have constructed the design with a polo collar and button placket, which opens up the neckline and provides a softer fit. The button placket is finished with glossy mother-of-pearl buttons, creating a beautiful contrast to the matte look of both the yarn and the colour palette.”
ABOUT ISAGER ARCHIVES 2 - COLLECTION
This collection is inspired by Marianne Isagers many designs from the 80s and 90s. 15 of Denmark’s most talented knitwear designers have spent a weekend with us in Tversted, with access to Marianne’s substantial collection of patterns. The designers have used one or more patterns as inspiration for their respective contributions to the Isager Archives 2 collection.
