Danish knitwear designer, Annette Danielsen has published a book with beautiful, wellfitting knitting designs in sizes 44 – 54. She has agreed that Isager could have some of the patterns translated into English, and for a start we chose Waves, Tuck Fold and First One Way,

Handcraft is a knitting book about finger gloves and mittens. The book is a cooporation between Helga Jóna Thórunnarsdóttir and Helga Isager.
About Handcraft
In the foreword Helga and Helga write:
“The idea for ‘Handcraft’ arose from our shared passion for techniques and details. We have taught knitting classes together for several years and approach our craft with the same meticulous care. A design can often be improved so the stitches lie perfectly, or maybe a few extra stitches need to be knitted to create a perfect edging. We may be the only ones to notice the difference, but the deep satisfaction that comes with creating a finished piece of craftsmanship drives us both in our work, ultimately guaranteeing that the sweater or scarf will have years of use.
We wanted to produce a book featuring a collection of some of our favourite techniques and designs. We realised that gloves and mittens were a good choice, because so many techniques go into knitting these small items. Gloves have essentially had the same shape for centuries, because they have to fit the curves of the human hand. Our idea was to write a classic book for knitters to use as a mini reference work whenever they need to refresh a certain technique – whether for knitting a mitten or a sweater.”
SWAN is the women’s version of OWL which Helga Isager designed for the Eco Kids Collection.
We imagined that the Eco Baby yarn would mainly be for baby and children’s garments but
having seen how OWL quickly became Ingrid’s (Helga’s daughter) favourite sweater, Helga decided to knit the sweater for herself. SWAN is worked in the round from the bottom up. At the armholes the body and sleeves are joined for the yoke, which is worked with raglan decreases. The sleeves are finished with box pleats to give the sweater a feminine look. The front and back are finished separately.
Eco Kids is a collection of sweaters for children aged 2 – 9 years. The sweaters are knitted in Isager’s two new yarns, Isager Eco Baby and Isager Eco Soft.
Since the Isager Hør Organic Collection proved to be quite popular, we decided again to invite other knit designers to make each a design in our new yarns, Eco Baby and Eco Soft. The outcome is seven beautiful but rather different sweaters.

We are launching two new yarns: Eco Soft and Eco Baby. Both yarns consist of Alpaca and Organic Pima Cotton from Peru.
The idea for these two new yarns arose last summer when more and more beginners visited our shop. I realized that a yarn was missing which could be knitted on large needle sizes with one strand only. And yes – we do have alpaca 3, but even this yarn can be difficult to knit from if you are at beginner’s level. I was very happy to receive the samples from our supplier in Peru and started the test knitting right away. I liked both samples very much and 5 natural colours of each yarn have been chosen.
Like the Alpaca 1 and 2 Eco-yarns, both new yarns are undyed and only available in the natural colours of the alpaca wool: dark grey, light grey, raw white, light beige and brown.

Order Isager Eco Soft
ISAGER ECO SOFT consists of 56% Alpaca and 44% Organic Pima Cotton. Meterage is 125 m in 50g and can be knitted on needle sizes 5.5 – 6 mm. Eco Soft could be the perfect replacement yarn for sweaters knitted on the same needle size and from Silk Mohair held together with a different yarn. The perferct choice for knitters, who prefer knitting with one strand only but still would like the furry look. The colours are natural, undyed colours.
Order Isager Eco Baby
ISAGER ECO BABY consists of 68% Baby Alpaca and 32% Organic Pima Cotton. Meterage is 150 m in 50 g, and it is knitted on needle size 4 – 5. This very soft yarn is well suited for babies and the smaller children. The ECO BABY colours are natural colours and since the yarn has no chemical treatment from a dyeing process, it is also well suited for people with sensitive skins or who are allergic to wool.
Most of you have already noticed the new colour 0 Eco which is a eco friendly colour, 100% unbleached and undyed. It has been well accepted among our customers.
Stock of Isager Silk Mohair currently looks good and we do our utmost to keep it this way. World wide the demand for the furry fibres is great and the prices are increasing.
Some of you may have ordered this colour only to discover that the label says colour 2. This was a mistake made by the spinning mill and which has now been corrected.

“I’m surprised, but also pleased, to learn that there is a great interest in more of my older designs. One of the popular models is ASANTE from Knitting Out of Africa. The book is sold out and I will relaunch some of the designs as a retro-collection.
As main colour for this new version, I have chosen Spinni and Alpaca 1, and the pattern is knitted in natural white.”

was a time when women’s fashion became more casual, and it was accepted for women to wear men’s leasure wear: High waisted pants, simple, striped and chequered shirts and sleeveless tops that would look like underwear. But it was also a time when fabrics were made of high quality and garments mended, if necessary.

When visiting our supplyer in Northern Italy in the spring 2019, we discussed the possibilty of adding a 100% organic linen yarn to our yarn range.
Yarn of 100% linen has previously been in our range and I found it missing in the collection. Linen wears beautifully and is wonderful for summer garments. Hør Organic is available in 6 beautiful colours.
Meterage is 356 m / 100 g and we have made some knitting samples with these gauges:
Hør Organic, single strand: 3 mm needles = 26 sts / 34 rows
Hør Organic + Alpaca 1: 3 mm needles = 20 sts / 24 rows
Hør Organic + Alpaca 2: 3,5 mm needles = 18 sts / 22 rows
Hør Organic 2 strands: 4 mm needles = 19 sts / 20 rows
