ISAGER SOCK YARN

ISAGER SOCK YARN

The yarn consists of 40% Easy Wash Alpaca, 40% Easy Wash Merino Wool and 20% Recycled Nylon, and it will be available in 20 colours.

EASY WASH is the environmental friendly alternative to the standard chlorine process used to make the fibres machine washable without shrinking. The Easy-Wash process is a treatment with eco-friendly oxidants, sourced in Germany and certified under REACH, Oeko-tex and ZDH (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemical) standards. This means that this treatment does not involve the discharge of hazardous chemicals, which is not the case with most machine washable yarns in today’s market.

20% of the yarn contents is recycled nylon which applies strenght to the yarn. For the first time ISAGER uses a synthetic fiber in a yarn, but it was impossible to find a yarn in natural fibres only, that offered softness and comfort, and at the same time was strong enough to offer the durabiliy required for a sock yarn. The recycled nylon is an industrial wast product that normally would be disposed.

Meterage: 384m/100g
The yarn is spun and dyed in Peru
Price: EUR 17.50 per 100g

SUGAR

SUGAR

SUGAR was a gift to Marianne from her aunt, Ella. The original sweater was green and Ella wore it while she was gardening. She exchanged it for sugar ration stamps during World War 2, hence the name.

Marianne loved it, and in the 80s she made a knitting pattern for it which quickly became a classic because of it’s lovely yet simple cable pattern and beautiful collar. The pattern is mostly worked in garter stitch, but with little cables worked over the 2 stockinette stitches between the garter stitch stripes.

Throughout the year

Handcraft

Handcraft

About Handcraft

In the foreword Helga and Helga write:
“The idea for ‘Handcraft’ arose from our shared passion for techniques and details. We have taught knitting classes together for several years and approach our craft with the same meticulous care. A design can often be improved so the stitches lie perfectly, or maybe a few extra stitches need to be knitted to create a perfect edging. We may be the only ones to notice the difference, but the deep satisfaction that comes with creating a finished piece of craftsmanship drives us both in our work, ultimately guaranteeing that the sweater or scarf will have years of use.
We wanted to produce a book featuring a collection of some of our favourite techniques and designs. We realised that gloves and mittens were a good choice, because so many techniques go into knitting these small items. Gloves have essentially had the same shape for centuries, because they have to fit the curves of the human hand. Our idea was to write a classic book for knitters to use as a mini reference work whenever they need to refresh a certain technique – whether for knitting a mitten or a sweater.”

The book is 112 pages

The book is published in English and Danish.

Swan

Swan

We imagined that the Eco Baby yarn would mainly be for baby and children’s garments but
having seen how OWL quickly became Ingrid’s (Helga’s daughter) favourite sweater, Helga decided to knit the sweater for herself. SWAN is worked in the round from the bottom up. At the armholes the body and sleeves are joined for the yoke, which is worked with raglan decreases. The sleeves are finished with box pleats to give the sweater a feminine look. The front and back are finished separately.
